Coachella 2017: Fashion, fun and music at the festival. And, an Indian touch

Here are some fashion trends you would love to add to your style memo, inspired by the ongoing Coachella Music & Arts festival in California.

From imitating denim demigods and retro renegades to changing up the co-ord game —here’s some trend takeaway from the ongoing Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Colorado, US.

Turtlenecks have been all the rage, and singer Lorde made a case for a revamped version of it when she took on the stage at the festival. Love the glitter-infused mesh detailing.

The singer also dropped a fresh track, Homemade Dynamite, from her upcoming album, Melodrama while performing on the Coachella stage.

Daring dark lips and cinnamon browns ruled at Coachella. While reds and pinks are always a safe bet, we love how the ladies stepped on the gas when it came to mixing up the lippy game.

One more trend that refuses to go out of fashion? Chokers! From dresses to Bardot tops — those who love to ride the trendwagon, continue to be in the mood for a 90’s throwback.

Model Alessandra Ambrosio looked summer-perfect in denim on denim — a cropped jacket teamed with shorts with a frayed hemline.

And, don’t miss out on the summer-perfect scalloped top that Ambrosio paired her outfit with. More 90s vibes here with the tear-drop glitter lining her cheekbone. We are getting our boomboxes out, already!

Model Shanina Shaik took over Coachella in her braids and an itsy-bitsy halter top. The takeaway here? The showstealer neckpiece. Love the stacked style.

Shaik has been giving us major boho vibes with her long braided hair, that goes perfectly with Coachella’s freewheeling mood. Of course, she has been called out for cultural appropriation for the braids, but seems like the model loves to go by her own rules.

Singers Selena Gomez and Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd) were quite a stylish pair at the festival. And while this Instagram post created news by itself, we won’t dare to miss how cute the couple looks!

The gold-rimmed glares, sported by the power pair, amped up the retro quotient. And if you look closely, you’d know that Selena’s got some flower power on too.

Socialite-model Kylie Jenner wore this wicked two-piece dress while hosting an event at the fest. Animal print is not everyone’s cuppa, but our Kylie’s killin’ it.

And, she’s also known for changing her hair colour quicker than you can spell her name. While she did debut a neon green bob at the fest, we love these delicately-dipped purple ends that add a colourful punch to the look.

Actor Freida Pinto knows the Coachella game well — by going for this breezy, printed midi dress, she proves that sometimes, simplicity can be the winner.

Giving us an insight into the celeb way of life, the actor also hit a nerve when she shared her Coachella bag-packing struggles. Fretting over that bachelorette vacay? Well, imagine what the always shutterbug-fearing celebs go through.

India, like every year, is an inspiration.
Let’s start with singer Vanessa Hudgens and her glittery bindi. In the past editions, model Kendall Jenner and singer Selena Gomez have also sported a bindi, lining the brows or doing sequinned versions of it. Another desi inspiration was in the rainbow-hued jacket worn by designer Jeremy Scott that very closely resembled Gujarati mirror work.
While some
celebrities were blamed by Netizens for cultural appropriation, it did not stop them from following their heart. Check em’ out:
