Uttarakhand girl Urvashi Rautela will represent India in the Miss Universe pageant to be held at Las Vegas in the United States on December 20. Urvashi, who shot to fame as the Love Dose girl in rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh’s music video by the same name, is a popular model with a string of prestigious beauty titles to her name. The model-turned-actor, who was last seen in hit party song Daddy Mummy from the film Bhaag Johnny, is competing with beauty queens from over 80 countries from around the world.
“It’s going to be a tough competition… but I’ve worked very hard over the years and am sure of giving my best to it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed,” Urvashi had told HT before leaving for the US earlier this month.
Urvashi’s mother and beauty expert Meera Rautela, who is currently in Nainital, said that Urvashi has created a ‘great bond’ with her co-contestants at the Miss Universe platform.
“In fact, seeing her wear bindi and choodiyan (bangles) one evening, many of her co-contestants, too, readily asked for the bindi and wore it on their foreheads. They’ve also expressed their desire to come over to India post the pageant,” she said.
Brought up in Kotdwar, a small town at the Himalayan foothills in Uttarakhand, Urvashi made her Bollywood debut opposite actor Sunny Deol in Singh Saab The Great (2013). She will next be seen in movies like Sanam Re and Great Grand Masti.
Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat on Saturday appealed to everyone to vote for Urvashi in large numbers to ensure her success at the international platform. It is worth mentioning that online voting for the pageant will take place live at the time of the grand finale - Dec 20 from 4pm-7pm (Las Vegas time) and Dec 21 from 5:30am to 8:30 am (India time).
Urvashi was chosen to represent India at Miss Universe earlier in 2012 as well, but was later dethroned as she was found ‘underage’ for the contest.
