Sure, a little black dress is great, but nothing says Valentine’s Day like a little red dress. Go for a red hot look, like these celebrities and heads will turn. (Instgaram)

The thing about a sexy red dress is — no matter the shape or the added details — it never goes out of style. We’re still smitten with the figure-flattering off-shoulder dress actor Kangana Ranaut wore around Christmas last year. Or, that floral cut-out maxi dress actor Deepika Padukone selected for a Cannes 2017 appearance?

Just in time for Valentine’s Day (on Wednesday), we’re inspiring you with some of our favourite fashion moments starring a simple red dress: From date-night casual to over-the-top fancy, there’s a wide variety here, but we promise they’ll all put you in the mood for some loving.

Actor Kangana Ranaut’s clingy, figure-flattering off-shoulder knee-length dress hugged her in all the right places.

TV personality Malaika Arora’s raspberry velvet draped knot dress from Lola by Suman B had a 1970s vibe and a style that elongated and slimmed at the same time.

Known for its heat-seeking qualities, red isn’t necessarily associated with softness or a romantic vibe, but actor Deepika Padukone proved otherwise with delicate red-and-white blooms on her Alexander McQueen dress.

Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar’s glamorous turn in a sequined mini dress with micro slit was not only merry and bright, but also thoroughly sophisticated. And that slit!

Actor Alia Bhatt left a mark with her mini Gauri and Nainika dress from the designer’s spring/ summer 2018 collection.

Anushka Sharma pulled off an all-red, all-velvet pantsuit like a boss.
