ASUS brings a comprehensive suite of products designed to enhance the gaming experience at CES 2012. These include the RT-N66U dual-band wireless gigabit router, EA-N66 dual-band wireless Ethernet wireless adapter, ROG Rampage IV Formula/ThunderFX motherboard and ROG Xonar Phoebus gaming soundcard set.

ASUS RT-N66U dual-band wireless gigabit router

The RT-N66U dual-band gigabit wireless router delivers extreme network speeds and coverage for the best wireless gaming experience. It is effectively two routers in one, delivering combined wireless speeds of up to 900Mbps through double 450Mbps bands operating separately at 2.4GHz and 5GHz. It is aided by powerful 26dBm Wi-Fi amplifiers which extend its wireless range. In addition, ASUS’ new user friendly interface puts its powerful features within easy reach of everyone.

The RT-N66U is a great networking solution optimized for demanding tasks like multiplayer gaming, 3D HD video streaming, and file sharing. Professional QoS traffic technology prioritizes network traffic to ensure lag-free online gaming sessions or HD video playback. The RT-N66U ensures a stable and fast download experience with 300,000 data sessions, a figure which is 20x that of conventional routers. In addition, 8 SSIDs provides 6 extra guest networks for higher security.

The RT-N66U is the first router to implement the new advanced ASUS user interface. Basic Wi-Fi settings are pre-configured out of the box and once connected to the default wireless network, it directs the web browser automatically to a web-based setup page. The ASUSWRT dashboard lets users monitor and adjust network settings easily; while a download manager allows for file downloads with the PC off, along with remote management of mobile devices like tablets and smartphones.

ASUS EA-N66 dual-band wireless Ethernet adapter

The ASUS EA-N66 is the world’s first dual-band wireless Ethernet adapter that delivers selectable 450Mbps bands in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Besides the patented orthogonal antenna design optimizes wireless signal coverage, the EA-N66 acts as a 3-in-1 home networking solution with its Ethernet adapter, repeater and access point modes. When paired with the RT-N66U, the EA-N66 gives gamers incredible network speeds and coverage for multiplayer gaming sessions.

ASUS ROG Rampage IV Formula/ThunderFX gaming motherboard

A powerful motherboard is essential for an immersive gaming experience, and ROG raises the bar with the Rampage IV Formula/ThunderFX. It features the Intel® X79 chipset along with an exclusive audio and LAN gaming solution – the SupremeFX III™ and Intel® Gigabit Ethernet with GameFirst technology, to give users the fastest and most immersive gameplay ever. 4-Way NVIDIA® SLI™ and AMD CrossFireX™ support maximizes visual performance and overclocking potential to levels beyond that of other gaming motherboards

The SupremeFX IIITM onboard audio solution is an 8-channel HD audio equipped with a carefully selected 1500uF capacitor, a metallic EMI cover and a special layout design on the PCB, while advanced SupremeFX Shielding™ technology isolates analog audio signals from digital sources for exceptional clarity and high fidelity. In addition, a gold-plated jack ensures minimal audio distortion. In real world testing, a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 110dB was achieved, yielding almost lossless audio.

In addition to the high-end onboard audio solution, the bundled ThunderFX is compatible with PCs and game consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It delivers crystal clear audio amplification to 120dB for audio that is cleaner than that of high-end motherboards. ThunderFX also enables users to pair their PC gaming headphones with their game consoles.

An EMI cover and shielding materials protects analog output circuits from noise, to ensure the purest, distortion-free audio; while selected relays de-pop noises and professional audio capacitors allow for higher sound resolution and expansion.

A built-in headphone amplifier lets users enjoy a full range of dynamic audio, and is able to drive 600 Ohms high-end headphones. With ENC support, along with dedicated channels for headphone audio and headset in-game voices, ThunderFX allows gamers to communicate with one another even in the heat of battle. It has three pre-set gaming profiles (FPS, RTS, and Racing) and has four audio settings optimized for gunshots, footsteps, engine noises, and voice so gamers can easily tailor the effects for their favorite games via an intuitive user interface.

ROG Xonar Phoebus gaming soundcard set

In-game audio can make or break the gaming experience, and a high quality sound card is one of the best investments a gamer can make. The ASUS ROG team worked with Xonar audio specialists to develop the ROG Xonar Phoebus gaming soundcard set that includes an internal soundcard and a break out control box in an attempt to establish the gaming audio standard. The internal PCI-E card is made from carefully selected materials and perfectly shielded to block electronic interferences from other components housed within the computer case. With a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 118dB and headphone amplifiers which can drive 600 ohm audiophile-class headphones, the Phoebus gives a dynamic boost in sound clarity to ensure fully immersive in-game audio.

The Xonar Phoebus control box gives users complete control over volume settings right at their desk; while the latest ROG Command Technology integrates array microphones can effectively reduce up to 50 percent of environmental noise, helping gamers to command and direct with seamless communication. Dolby® Home Theater V4 surround sound and GX3.0 gaming audio engine have been specifically tuned to provide a true-to-life experience for those into racing or FPS games.
