Now, Adobe flash on Samsung, LG Smart TVs

Adobe is infiltrating the digital living room by bringing its Flash-based rich entertainment apps, games and videos to TVs, set-top boxes and connected devices. It recently announced that Samsung will become the first TV maker to launch Flash-based entertainment apps on Smart TVs.

Adobe is infiltrating the digital living room by bringing its Flash-based rich entertainment apps, games and videos to TVs, set-top boxes and connected devices.

During its MAX 2011 technology conference, Adobe announced that Samsung will become the first TV maker to launch Flash-based entertainment apps on Smart TVs.

'VH1's Flash technology based application, 'I Love the 80s' Trivia,' will be made available on Samsung Smart TVs in the US this fall via the Samsung Apps marketplace,' said Samsung.

LG and TiVo have also signed up to become content partners and will take advantage of Adobe AIR 'to deliver Flash-based console-quality gaming and premium video across TVs, Blu-Ray players and set-top boxes.'

LG will begin to offer flash-based applications with AIR on its LG Smart TVs in 2012.

'TVs and other connected devices in the digital living room are the next frontier for rich entertainment apps,' said Danny Winokur, vice president and general manager, Platform, Adobe. 'Flash-based applications are transforming content consumption on TVs as developers embrace new opportunities to deliver beautiful HD content to increasingly powerful digital home devices connected to a big screen."

Adobe announced the release of Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 during MAX 2011. Both are available as a download from Tuesday.
