Factory owners in Manesar got relief from the five-seven hour power outages that have been going on for the last two months.
Factory owners said that the power cuts caused production loss to the industries. The situation improved after factory owners on Friday held a meeting with the senior officials of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitaran Nigam (DHBVN), the power discom.
Factory owners had demanded immediate action to improve the power situation in Manesar.
“In the last two to three days, we have not witnessed any power cuts. This is a big relief for all of us. The cuts were so erratic that two heavy generator sets got damaged because of overheating. We had to use generator sets to run the factory but these can be used only for a limited time. Each factory in Manesar has, more or less, a similar problem, which is why we called DHBVN officials for an urgent meeting to resolve the issue,” Sanjay Ahuja, joint secretary IMT Manesar Industrial Association, said.
The industry owners had earlier held a meeting with Haryana state industrial and infrastructure development corporation (HSIIDC) in this regard.
Ahuja said, “DHBVN has replaced some low-capacity transformers in Sector 1 of Manesar with high-capacity ones. In Sector 1 and in neighbouring areas, DHBVN had to maintain power supply from other feeders or transformers, which was the main reason for the power cuts. HSIIDC officials were also present at the meeting.”
Production loss and damage to generator sets appeared as a major cause of concern for the three thousand industry owners. “We were worried a lot as generator sets are not supporting the production and we had suspended production for some time. But now, the situation has improved,” said Jatin Minocha, an industrialist.
DHBVN superintending engineer Navin Verma, said, “DHBVN is upgrading infrastructure in the district, including Manesar. Now power situation has improved and we will ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.”
