Ryan school Bhondsi reopens, parents say still worried
Several parents went to drop their kids right up to their classes, despite the SSO requesting them to drop their wards off at the main gate. The parents said they wanted to check security measures in the class and outside.
Ryan International School, Bhondsi, reopened on Monday, almost 18 days after an eight-year-old student of Class 2 was found dead with his throat slit inside the school toilet.
On Monday, parents were spotted dropping their kids to the school. Many students were apparently hestitant to go in alone and requested their parents to drop them to their classes as they were scared.
The safety and security officer (SSO) of the school, Vargheese Thalkachan, was seen escorting students from their school buses, vans to their classes. Thalkachan was was also spotted askinng students and parents to go through a metal detector gate, which was installed on Sunday to ensure safety of students. The safety and security officer avoided mediapersons and asked students not to talk to any journalists either.
“We do not want the students to interact with the media. The parents are free to talk, as long as there is no disturbances outside our gate,” said one of the security officials.

“I have told both my children not to be alone at anytime. If they are going to the toilet, they should ask for an attendant. I am very scared but decided to send my children as I didn’t want their studies being affected,” said Sushma Sharma, mother of two students.
Another parent Renu Nolkha, a resident of Sector 56, said, “I am satisfied with the security measures. Both my children were scared and my son kept telling me that he will not use the toilet and will not go near the water cooler.”
The school’s new principal, Sandya Lal Das, too met the students and discussed safety tips with them.
Lewana, a Class 3 student said, “Our new principal maam has taught us tricks to be safe inside school and I will only share them with my class teacher, close friends, and parents. We are safe in the school and I am not feeling scared”.
