2 killed in separate hit-and-run incidents in Gurugram

Barely four hours after joining a new job at an auto tech firm in the city, a 37-year old man from Jharkhand died after being hit by a speeding pick-up van in Sector 35 Begumpur Khatola on Friday night.
Police said the incident occurred at 12.30pm when Raju Pratap stepped out for a ‘tea break’ on the first day of his training as a technician. Police said a pick-up van hit him, leaving him bloodied on the roadside.
Vinod Kumar, station house officer (SHO), Badshahpur police station, said the victim’s colleagues rushed him to Medanta, the Medicity hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The investigating officer said that the car had a Haryana number plate and an investigation was on to trace the driver.
A case has been registered against the driver, identified as Ashok Kumar, under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC. The case was registered at Badshahpur police station.
In another incident, an employee of a realty firm was killed after a truck rammed his Royal Enfield bike on Dwarka Expressway on Friday night.
ASI Joginder Singh, the investigating officer at Sector 10 police station, said that the victim, Chetan, suffered head injuries and died on the spot. “We have traced the registration number of the truck ,” the officer said.
