20 new buses to hit city roads

In a relief to daily commuters, the Haryana transport department will launch 20 new intra-city buses on Monday.
These buses will ply on three routes -- HUDA City Centre Metro Station-Sohna Road Badshahpur, Basai Chowk-Gurgaon Bus Stand and Palam Vihar to Bus Stand Gurgaon.
The new buses comprise 10 semi low-floor buses and 10 specially-designed standard buses. The frequency of the buses is 8 -10 minutes.
Earlier this month, the transport department had launched 36 buses on four routes. The department plans to launch a total of 100 buses in the city within this year.
Haryana Roadways (Gurgaon) general manager Yashender Singh said the department will also conduct a survey to determine four new routes to expand their reach to cover the maximum area of the city.
The HUDA City Centre Metro Station-Sohna Road Badshahpur route will be a boon for the residents of newly-developed areas on Sohna Road, sectors 43, 44, 45, 46, 47 and 56 and Sushant Lok. It will also prove to be a feeder service for HUDA City Centre Metro Station. This would greatly benefit office-goers as well as the traders visiting Delhi on a daily basis The Basai Chowk-Gurgaon Bus Stand route will benefit the residents of Old Gurgaon localities. The Palam Vihar-Bus Stand Gurgaon route will benefit the residents of sectors 21, 22, 23, 23A and Palam Vihar and connect these localities to the inter-city and state bus terminal.
At present, Haryana Roadways is operating on four routes in Gurgaon -- Manesar to Karol Bagh (New Delhi), Dundahera to Gurgaon Bus Stand, Kendriya Vihar to Gurgaon Bus Stand and Gurgaon Railway Station to Metro Station, Sector-29. The service is operated in two shifts -- 6am-2pm and 2.30pm-11pm.
