Burglars strike at Badshahpur market on two successive nights

Burglars decamped with cash and goods worth thousands of rupees from three shops in Badshahpur village early on Tuesday. The theft was a repeat of an incident early on Monday when burglars had made off with cash, clothes and groceries worth lakhs from nine shops in Badshahpur market. Police suspect the same gang is behind both incidents.
Tej Ram whose retail shop on Sohna Road was also targeted in the heist said the incident happened around 2:40am on Tuesday. “The CCTV camera footage shows that the thieves came in a black car with a Delhi number and took away cash and other goods. I lost around ₹12,000 cash and cigarette packets worth ₹6,000,” he said.
However, the loss was manifold for owners of two hardware shops from which bathroom accessories were stolen.
Police claimed they chased six suspects around 3:30 am on Tuesday after they saw them moving in a suspicious manner. “We chased the men who were going towards Sohna. Three of them were in a car and three others were on a motorcycle. They left the bike behind and managed to escape in the car. They are being identified and will be nabbed soon,” Rajender Yadav, SHO, Badshahpur police station, said.
On Monday, the burglary in the main market had led to protests by shopkeepers who blocked Sohna Road. The blockade was lifted only after police assured the that the culprits would be nabbed soon.
The thefts came to light when one of the employees of a tent house near the market was on his way to the police station around 4:15am on Monday to report the death of a florist when he noticed locks of several shops in the market broken.
The thieves targeted two cement shops, ready-made clothes shop, two grocery stores and a chemist shop. Badshahpur police said the shopkeepers complained of missing cash. “All other items in the shops were untouched except the cash counters,” Rajender Yadav, SHO, Badshahpur said.
“We are investigating the matter and the culprits will be caught soon. A team of forensic and finger print experts have collected evidences,” Yadav said.
The SHO had also held a meeting with shopkeepers and assured them that CCTV cameras would be installed at all shops and main roads on Tikli road, Kadarpur road, main market and Sohna road.
