The city police on Sunday released a sketch of one of the five accused in the DLF City robbery case.
The police said they would speed up the investigation and arrest the culprits soon. The robbery incident in an upscale condominium has triggered panic in the region.
On Saturday, five masked men broke into the house of Nitin Kumar, MD of a city-based software firm. The robbers held Nitin’s mother Indrani Singh, his twin children and a domestic servant hostage before decamping with cash and valuables worth lakhs. Indrani was injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, in the wake of the robbery incident, the management of DLF Exclusive Floors has decided to install CCTV cameras at the main gate and other vulnerable points. The management has also decided to enhance the strength of guards.
The security in-charge of DLF Exclusive Floors, Commander (retd) MPS Chauhan, said, “The robbery is not due to the lack of security. We have 28 guards in the colony and five guards are always deployed on the main gate. We do not let anyone enter without valid stickers or permission from a resident.”
There has been a spurt in the number robbery incidents in high-end condominiums in the recent past. On February 15, five armed goons posing as vigilance department officials barged into Heritage City on MG Road. Although two of them were caught, the rest managed to flee. In some colonies, RWAs have taken upon themselves the task of providing security.
Atul Batra, president of Heritage City, said, “We have employed more security guards and increased supervisors also. We took the help of professionals in revamping the security network in the colony. We can’t take chances.”
Dhruv Kataria, resident of Exclusive Floors, said, “The Saturday incident has triggered scare among residents. There is a feeling of insecurity. The management should find out why it happened despite high security.”
