A 15-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by four people, including three minors, on July 29 in Gurgaon, police said.

The police had registered a case in the matter on Friday and detained the two minor accused on Friday night. Two of the accused are still at large.

As per the complaint by victim’s kin, she is a class 8 student at a government school. She was kidnapped by one of her classmates, along with his friends, in an auto-rickshaw when she was returning home for lunch from the school. The incident took place near Sector 46 at around 1230pm.

The victim told the police that while on her way back home she spotted four people with a three-wheeler vehicle. She was riding a bicycle and when she reached near them, they dragged her inside the auto.

They took her to a secluded place and gang-raped her, a police officer said, quoting the complaint.

She also told the police that one of the accused had covered his face with a mask. After assaulting her, the accused threatened the teen of dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone.

She returned home and was so traumatised that she couldn’t tell anybody about the incident. It was only on Friday that she was able to talk to her mother and confided in her what happened on July 29.

The girl’s family immediately took her to the Sadar Police station. The police registered an initial complaint and sent the girl for a medical examination that confirmed sexual assault. Accordingly, a case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC as well as under the Pocso Act because the victim is a minor.

A counsellor was provided to the girl so that she could comfortably record her statement. Armed with the clues that the victim had given the police about the accused and other case details, a police team launched a manhunt.

Two of the minor accused were detained by Friday night even as the police are still on the heels of the other two involved in the crime.

The girl had told the police that she would be able to identify the culprits by face though she doesn’t know their names. She also mentioned that a class 9 student of her had molested her earlier and one of the accused with covered face could be the same person. The auto-rickshaw driver has been identified as Vishal, a resident of Wazirabad village. He is yet to be arrested.
