A 25-year-old woman lawyer was allegedly sexually assaulted by four men outside the Sohna court on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the complaint lodged at the Sohna City police station, the unidentified men passed lewd comments, tore her clothes and threatened her with dire consequences if she approached the police.

The accused have booked four unidentified men under sections 354-B (sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code at the Sohna City police station. No arrests have been made so far, police said.

According to the police, the incident took place around 1:40 pm on Tuesday when the victim was walking towards the court entrance.

“The four men were sitting in a black Hyundai Accent car (HR AC 6262). They started singing suggestive Bollywood songs looking at the woman. One of the men stepped out of the car, approached the woman and told her to sit in the car. When she resisted, they grabbed her dupatta and tried to push her inside the car. Two of them tore at her clothes. That’s when she raised an alarm,” Sohna City station House Officer Mukesh Kumar said quoting the complaint.

“After the woman raised the alarm, passersby came to help and dialled the police control room number, but the accused managed to flee,” Kumar said.

In her complaint, the woman said that the accused threatened her of dire consequences if she approached the police.

In 2016, 272 cases of molestation registered by the police. The number rose to 303 in 2017.
