Residents of Millennium City will have a chance to jive with a heady mix of tradition and technology at a unique puppet show festival that begins on Wednesday.
Apart from Indian artists, troupes from Iran, US, Germany, Afghanistan, Israel, Taiwan, Bulgaria, Australia, Ireland, and Italy have also arrived in the city.
Unlike the traditional puppet shows, this festival, which has been organised by the Ishara Puppet Theatre, will host shows based on modern technologies used in stage performances around the world.
The show would start from 7.30pm everyday from February 1 till February 5 and again from February 13 to February 15, the organisers have said.
Dadi Pudumjee, founder of the Ishara Puppet Theatre, said the event will prove to be a perfect treat for those who love Indian culture and tradition. Pudumjee doesn't believe the puppet art is fading due to popularity of silver screen.
"Whenever I organise a show, it always goes packed and sometimes we are compelled to refuse our guests due to lack of seating arrangements at the venue. I think people still want to stay connected with roots and tradition. But the availability of such things is limited," Pudumjee said. He said that the show would be the "right blend of conventional puppet shows and technology".
