State PWD minister Rao Narbir Singh on Saturday said that ₹102 crore will be spent on running repairs on roads in Huda sectors that are to be transferred to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG).

Speaking on the sidelines of an event organised in Sector 7 to mark the start of construction of a new internal road, the minister said that all the road projects would be completed by June 30, before the onset of monsoon.

Singh said the road repairs would be carried out in sync with anti-encroachment drives to ensure smooth passage for pedestrians. He said the government will also pump in funds to ensure proper drainage system and prevent waterlogging during the rainy season.

He said the PWD has appointed technical advisors to carry out inspections and monitor and assess the quality of roads across Huda sectors.

Hitting out at the previous Congress government for not ensuring timely completion of pending projects, the minister said the current dispensation led by Manohar Lal Khattar has undertaken effective measures to push ahead with all developmental goals.

“We don’t make false promises. We will go to the people and keep them in the loop about projects that are in the pipeline and those already in different stages of implementation. We will not leave any project midway like the (Bhupinder) Hooda government did and ensure that work at all sites where foundation stones were laid are finished on time,” Narbir said.

Several road repair projects are already underway in Gurgaon.

In December 2016, the chief minister had directed then MCG commissioner TL Satyaprakash to start repair work on 300km of roads and make them motorable by July 15. The CM had also announced the allotment of ₹102 crore for the road repair project.

As part of this project, 31 roads within MCG’s jurisdiction and another 34 within the ambit of Huda are to be repaired. These include prominent stretches such as Golf Course Road, Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, Gurgaon-Faridabad Road, Sheetala Mata Road and Palam Vihar Road.
