In a suspected suicide, the body of a BSF jawan was found at the Bhondsi BSF camp early on Sunday. According to the police, he sustained three bullet injuries under his chin from his Insas service rifle.
The jawan, identified as Sunil Kumar Yadav (38), who was from Dadipur in Uttar Pradesh is survived by his wife and two children. He had joined the Bhondsi camp two months ago.
According to the police, Yadav was on duty at post number 2 in Bhondsi BSF camp from 10pm to 1am. The jawan who came to replace him around 3am found his body and informed the base. Camp members rushed to the spot and took Yadav to the civil hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by doctors.
“The post-mortem exam confirmed that he died because of bullet injuries from his service rifle. Further investigation is still underway and forensic staff has gathered evidence that will reveal whether he committed suicide. Three bullets hit him under his chin. As he was using an Insas rifle, it is possible to get three bullets in one trigger,” said inspector Pramod Kumar, assistant sub-inspector, Bhondsi police station.
Yadav’s colleagues told the police that he showed no signs of depression and did not say anything that would suggest that he was under any kind of stress.
