A police inspector posted in Nuh was suspended on Tuesday, for creating a ruckus by dancing and disrupting traffic on Sheetla Mata Road near Sector 5, allegedly in an inebriated condition, two days ago.

He was posted as the in-charge of Tauru crime unit in Nuh district.

Nazneen Bhasin, Nuh, superintendent of police (SP), said that the police officer was immediately suspended after a report of the incident was received from the office of commissioner of police of Gurugram.

“The officer has been suspended and a departmental enquiry is pending. The officer has performed admirably in the past. This particular incident is an exception,” said Bhasin.

Jai Singh, assistant commissioner of police (law and order), said that he had recommended strongest possible action against the officer concerned.

“I had met the officer at the police station on Sunday late night. He was drunk, abusive and was misbehaving with everyone, in a manner that’s unbecoming of a police official,” said Singh.

On Sunday night at around 1:15am, the police officer parked a white SUV in the middle of the road in Sector 5 and after getting down from the car, he allegedly started dancing with an acquaintance.

Commuters, including some truckers and dhaba owners, tried to intervene and stop the police officer, but the officer misbehaved with commuters, resulting in chaos and traffic congestion, which lasted over 30 minutes.

A video of the police officer, dressed in a shorts and a sleeveless vest and arguing with locals, was shared multiple times across various social media platforms.

A police patrolling team from Sector 5 police station took the police officer to the police station, where the ACP (law and order) met him.

An official privy to the matter said that the police officer had allegedly misbehaved with a cop at the police station as well.
