Spelling relief to those who have booked weddings at the disputed venue in Huda Gymkhana Club, the district court on Saturday allowed Billu Tent House to conduct all such event till December 1.

The court, while hearing the plea of the tent house, asked the Haryana urban development authority (Huda) to tender out the club venue after due process and submit the same before the next hearing on December 4.

Birender Yadav, owner of Billu Tent House, refused comment on the matter but a close aide of Yadav’s told Hindustan Times that more than a dozen functions are booked at the venue starting from October 31.

“People were worried since D Suresh, divisional commissioner, Gurgaon, heard complaints of a group of club members that Huda awarded the ground to Billu Tent House without a floating a tender and asked the Huda to cancel the agreement and remove structures of the banquet hall on Tuesday. Now, these weddings will take place and no new booking will happen,” said the aide.

Following order of D Suresh, the Huda appointed a committee which recommended on Wednesday the cancellation of the agreement with Billu Tent House. The Huda has not served a notice of cancellation and Billu Tent House moved the local court on the basis of media reports.

Yashpal Yadav, administrator, Huda, said, “We will follow the court direction and complete the tender process before the next hearing.”

In 2007, Huda awarded the club ground for nine years to Billu Tent House and the tenure expired in May 2017.

Mohit Dutta, a club member, said, “The Huda made several mistakes in May 2017 by awarding the ground to Billu Tent House. One, it was given to the tent house without issuing a tender; and, two, it allowed Billu Tent House to erect structures. We raised these issues before the divisional commissioner and asked the Huda to cancel the agreement.”
