Eyewitnesses who saw a youth flee from the spot after he shot dead a 49-year-old man and snatched Rs 15 lakh, are not cooperating with the Gurgaon police.
According to the police, there were around 50 eyewitnesses but none has come forward to share the video they made on their phones nor have they shared the registration number of the motorcycle on which the youth had fled. The police have failed to recover any CCTV footage to identify the accused.
Anil Kumar Shukla was shot dead on Wednesday morning in front of Suncity Business Tower on Golf Course Road. Shukla was carrying a bag with Rs 15 lakh cash, which his assailant stole.
“Earlier, we suspected that the businessman from whom the money was collected is behind the incident. But he was given a clean chit on Thursday,” said inspector Amit Kumar, SHO of Sector 56, also the investigation officer.
DCP (East) Deepak Saharan said, “On Tuesday night, Shukla slept in his office in Chandni Chowk as he had to leave early to collect cash from Gurgaon and his colleagues knew about his visit. We believe that the assailants followed him from Delhi and knew about the collection of payment.”
Shukla was a resident of Karawal Nagar in Delhi. Twice a month, he visited Gurgaon to collect payment on his employer’s behalf. He had been working with Patel Mahendrabhai Somabhai Co., a courier company in Chandni Chowk, Delhi, for the past nine years.
