Following Gurgaon traffic police’s three-day ultimatum, the concessionaire of the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway has fixed the faulty CCTV camera at the Sirhaul toll plaza.
Traffic police officials on Monday visited the toll plaza on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway to physically check the cameras and expressed satisfaction.
Joint commissioner (traffic) Bharti Arora had on Friday asked the Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Ltd (DGSCL) to put in order some of the faulty CCTV cameras at the earliest.
Assistant commissioner of police (traffic) Vishnu Dayal visited the Sirhaul toll plaza to check the CCTV camera footage.
“The lanes where the alignment was not clear have been rectified and a few more cameras have been installed to ensure proper CCTV footage is recorded. The Sirhaul toll plaza has 96 CCTV cameras in 32 lanes while there are 48 cameras in 18 lanes at the Kherki Daula toll plaza,” he said.
The police officials had earlier claimed that CCTV cameras installed at Sirhaul and Kherki Daula toll plazas were unable to capture clear footage of the vehicles. The crime branch of Gurgaon police had reported the matter to the traffic police.
The crime branch teams were unable to identify suspected vehicles, their number plates and the drivers crossing the toll during investigation of various cases. “The footage had poor alignment and the picture quality was bad,” said a police officer.
“We will check the CCTV footage on a regular basis and will ensure nothing is missed by the crime team. We have asked the ACP to visit the toll once a week,” Arora said.
When contacted, a DGSL spokesperson said, “We have installed two CCTV cameras and one still camera in each of the lanes at the toll plazas. These special night vision cameras can capture vehicles’ details and activity in the lanes”.
