Gurgaon: Four policemen, prisoner hurt in accident

Four policemen and an undertrial prisoner were injured when the jeep in which they were travelling to a court in Palwal turned turtle after being hit by a speeding car on the Gurgaon-Sohna road on Thursday morning.
The injured have been identified as sub-inspector Nanka Singh, senior sub-inspector Suraj Bhan, constables Mahaveer and Pradeep and prisoner Mushtaq, the police said. They are undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
The accident took place around 9am near Dhunela village on the Gurgaon-Sohna road. The policemen were escorting Mushtaq from Bhondsi Jail to Palwal for a court appearance in a police jeep.
The jeep was hit in the rear by a speeding vehicle. The driver of the jeep lost control and the vehicle hit a road divider and turned turtle, the police said. Locals rescued the victims.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the jeep fled the spot, the police said.
A case has been registered against unknown person.
“A team has been formed to find the absconding driver of the other vehicle,” the police said.
“The four injured policemen and prisoner were taken to the Civil Hospital from where they were referred to a private hospital,” said a spokesperson of the Gurgaon police department.
