Gurgaon: Man arrested with countrymade pistol in Sector 56

The Gurgaon police on Thursday night arrested a man in Sector 56 who was allegedly involved in six house theft cases and was planning another, police said. He was produced before the city court and sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

During questioning, the man, Arif from Rae Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, revealed that he had conducted a recce of several houses he planned to strike, police said. They added that they had got a tipoff that a man involved in several thefts was roaming around Huda park in Sector 56. Teams from the crime investigation agency and Sector 40 police then reached the spot.

“He was seen walking restlessly in the park. When we questioned him, he could not give a satisfactory response. Upon checking, he was found to be carrying a countrymade pistol and a live cartridge,” said a police spokesperson. The police also said that Arif’s modus operandi was to keep a close watch on apartments and identify the ones that were locked during the day.

A case was registered against him under Arms Act at Sector 56 police station on Thursday night, police said.
