The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said consultant will submit its report on change in alignment for Connecting Peripheral Road (CPR) a week later. The NHAI has asked the consultant to prepare a fresh drawing of possible route that will connect Northern Peripheral Road, also known as Dwarka Expressway, with Southern Peripheral Road, at the earliest.
Udeep Singhal, project director, NHAI, Dwarka, said, “We are likely to get the report from the consultant by Monday. Only after we receive a fresh drawing or report on the CPR, will we be in a position to hold discussions with officials of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda). We are trying our best to start the construction of CPR, but that depends on the land clearance from the Huda.”
“The CPR is to connect northern and southern peripheral roads (NPR-SPR) on NH-48 near Kherki Daula through a cloverleaf,” the NHAI official said, adding that a change in alignment of CPR has posed a big challenge.
A major hurdle appeared with regard to the CPR’s alignment a week ago after the Huda failed to remove high tension electricity wires in a 600-metre portion of CPR and transfer the land to the NHAI, as it wanted to start construction.
Yashpal Yadav, administrator, Huda, said, “We are in touch with the officials of the Haryana state industrial and infrastructure development corporation (HSIIDC) with regard to the land adjoining the CPR. We hope the HSIIDC will have no problem transferring the land for construction of CPR. Once consultant submits its report, we will be able to take things forward with HSIIDC.”
CPR is better known as last leg of the 28-km-long NPR, which is to connect NH-48 near Kherki Daula from Shiv Murti near Mahipalpur. In July, the NHAI had written to Huda to transfer land for CPR and cloverleaf construction.
