A shopkeeper near the JMD mall said, “It is not that the police are not present. There are PCR vans doing the rounds at night, but with not enough personnel,” he said.

Security supervisor at Sahara Mall, Dilip Singh Rathod, said he has several cases of drunken brawls and women often get caught up in it.“All kinds of people are seen on MG road. Everybody knows about the problems here,” he said.
Ruchika (name changed), a resident of a MG Road condominuim, said, “We can’t step out of the house once it’s dark. Drunken brawls are common here and the environment is dangerous.”
She said the police was trying to do their job but “how many personnel do they deploy?”.
