Gurgaon: Newborn girl abandoned in Sector 47, dies on way to hospital

A newborn girl was found at a vacant plot near a petrol pump in Sector 47 on Friday morning. The baby girl was breathing when the residents spotted her, but died on the way to Gurgaon civil hospital.
The infant was wrapped in a bedsheet and did not have enough clothes on, assistant sub inspector Rambir of Sadar police station said. He said some residents informed the police that a girl, who seemed to be three days old, was abandoned at a plot.
“She was breathing when we reached the spot. However, she was in a critical condition and passed away on the way to the hospital,” sub-inspector Rambir said.
He said a case was filed under an IPC section that pertains to the exposure and abandonment of a child under 12 years of age. He said the case was filed against unknown persons and efforts are on to identify and trace the accused.

In December 2015, the gender ratio marked a significant increase to 903 females per 1,000 males. As per census 2011, the sex ratio in the country stood at 940 females per 1,000 males.
Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar tweeted on March 15 that the sex ratio at birth had increased to 938 from 850. He said the government will achieve its sex ratio target of 950 this year.
On January 25, the decaying body of a five-year-old girl was found in a water tank at Drona Park near Rajiv Chowk. She had gone missing on January 5 from a shrine in the Civil Lines area. Post mortem examination confirmed that she was raped and killed.
On December 28, 2016, a two-day-old girl was found at Shikohpur village. She was kept inside a cardboard box next to a tree. She was taken to the civil hospital.
On November 2, 2016, a newborn girl was found near a gated residential society in Ardee city in Sector 52. The girl, wrapped in a white cloth, was found lying in small bushes close to gate number 1 by a security guard.
On July 13 last year, a missing four-year-old girl was found mutilated near the huts where her family lived at Kadipur area near Sector 10.
Her family claimed she was subjected to a sacrificial practice as an eye and ear of the girl were missing, her tongue had been cut off, nose and arm slashed, head clean shaven , kajal applied on her eyes and her forehead and lips smeared with vermillion.
