Gurgaon: One-metre deep pothole on Sohna Road a headache for commuters

Commuters and residents have been having a tough time navigating around a one-foot deep pothole on the service lane near Vipul Trade Centre on Sohna Road for the last one month.
While the pothole, itself, is fraught with risks for commuters, the entire stretch of the service lane is damaged. Residents of nearby condominiums said they have been pleading with authorities concerned to run urgent repairs on the stretch to enable smooth and safe commuting, but nothing came of it.
In order to avoid the pothole, the commuters have to take a U-turn from Vatika crossing. They also complained of damage to their two-wheelers and four-wheelers after motoring through the damaged lane.
“The pothole before the U-turn towards the service road near Parsavnath is dangerous. There could be an accident anytime. Minor incidents keep happening as drivers, caught unawares by the crater-sized pothole, slam the brakes,” Arun Dagar, a resident of Vipul Greens, said.
The commuters claimed the authorities failed to fill up the crater and repair the damage on the stretch despite repeated complaints.
“Before taking the U-turn, a driver has to keep an eye out for vehicles approaching from all sides as any slackness on his part could result in a major accident. Though the pothole was filled with mud and pebbles some time back, it proved to be of little help to commuters. I want it properly relaid with concrete so that further damage could be prevented,” Manjeev Aggarwal, a resident of Sector 48, said.
Residents have also requested authorities to place boulders on the U-turn like the one near Delhi airport to avoid accidents.
“We will repair the lane at the earliest,” Yashpal Yadav, Huda administrator, said.
