Gurgaon’s Sushant Lok 1 residents want demolished boundary wall back
Residents protested demanded immediate reconstruction of a boundary wall at the southern side of Sushant Lok 1 block Agurgaon Updated: Mar 26, 2017 23:55 IST
A group of residents protested against the district town planning (DTP) department, Gurgaon, on Sunday demanding immediate reconstruction of a boundary wall at the southern side of Sushant Lok 1 block A. The boundary wall had been demolished as it blocked one of the entries into the sector.
The residents alleged that it is unjust that despite their correspondence with the authorities and assurances by the district town planner, the wall has still not been reconstructed. Claiming that absence of the wall allows free entry of people and vehicles into the area, they raised security concerns saying there is no monitoring of entry and exits at the gate.
MM Vedi, a-78-year-old resident, was injured and underwent a hip replacement surgery last week after a speeding motorbike lost its balance and rammed into him near the wall.
“Our fellow resident suffered a fracture in his hip bone and underwent hip replacement surgery. There are more than 40 senior citizens in the lane who are scared to walk outside. We do not have a park here and feel we are under house arrest,” said Sanjay Bakshi, of Sushant Lok 1 block A.
“I had to undergo several tests and CT scan after a speeding scooter rammed into me when I was stepping out of my house on March 18. The driver was driving rashly and he fled from the spot before anyone could catch hold of him”, said Nirmala Sethi, another senior citizen.
The wall was recently broken down and the secondary gate opened after being closed for seven years. The gate was a part of the approved plan for Block A.
“This has strained the resources of the small lane that is a dead end on one side. We feel cheated by the authorities since the matter was settled on August 8, 2011,” said Colonel (retired) BP Sawhney, another resident.
Rajinder Sharma, DTP, enforcement, said, “Action (of demolishing the wall) was taken after informing the residents. No one can block the entry or exit on their own.”
