A number of city schools have tweaked dispersal timings after reports of heavy waterlogging and traffic jams were received from major parts of Gurgaon after Wednesday’s downpour.
Schools including Delhi Public School in Sector 45, Manav Rachna International School in Sector 46, Lotus Valley International School in Sector 50, Shalom Hills International School, Sushant Lok and Vega School in Sector 48 among others have announced early dispersal. The schools, through messages and emails, informed the parents about the early dispersal.
“Yes, we have tweaked school timings and are allowing early dispersal due to heavy rainfall in Gurgaon,” said Aditi Misra, Principal, Delhi Public School, Sector 45.
The officials of Manav Rachna International School, in a mail sent to parents said, “Seeing the weather conditions, as a precautionary measure, the school is getting over early today. Students from Grade 1 and above will be dispersed along with the Early Years at 12.30pm.”
The schools said that the parents were panicked about their children reaching home safely and on-time, especially after the heavy rainfall that threw city’s traffic out of gear on July 29.
“We have been receiving calls from parents since morning asking about our schedule. The school did not want the parents to be worried and tweaked the timings,” said a principal requesting anonymity.
However, the early dispersal, short notice and change in bus routes by schools have again created a problem for parents. The parents said that a few schools have decided to not send their buses to parts of Gurgaon, they do not know how to pick their child.
“All the major roads from Palam Vihar to my son’s school are blocked. Even his school has decided to not ply buses in this area, how am I supposed to go pick him?” said a parent requesting anonymity.
