The police claimed on Thursday to have busted sex rackets operating out of spas in two different malls on MG Road and another on Golf Course road. Ten women and a man, including a spa manager, were arrested by different police teams on Wednesday night. The teams were led by three ACPs of the Gurgaon police.

The accused have been booked under various sections the Immoral Traffic Act 1956 and will be produced before a duty magistrate, an officer said.

An investigating officer said the police sent personnel posing as customers to these spas and searches were conducted only when deals were struck and payments made in advance. The investigators also focussed on collecting circumstantial and other evidences, police sources said.

According to the police, the searches were conducted by the teams headed by the SHOs of DLF phases 1 and 2 and Sector 29 police stations after receiving information of the activities being carried out at these places in the garb of spas.

“The sex racket was being operated at Relax Spa at MGF Metropolitan mall, Spa Balneo in DT Mega Mall near Sikanderpur metro station and the Grand Spa at the Grand Mall on MG Road,” a police spokesperson said.

Two women were booked at Relax Spa under the DLF Phase 2 police station, three at Grand Spa and another five at Spa Balneo, within the jurisdiction of Sector 29 police station, police said.

The police action followed repeated complaints of drunken brawls in the area, an officer said. A team led by ACP, Sadar, Anil Yadav, searched the Balneo Spa, while another led by ACP, DLF, Harender Singh searched the Relax Spa. The third, Grand Spa, was searched by a team led by ACP, traffic, Pankhuri Yadav.

“There have been repeated complaints about flesh trade being carried out in these spas and, hence, the police carried out these raids. The drive will continue till this menace is eradicated from the area. Also, pub and bar owners have been asked to follow guidelines to prevent brawls and other incidents,” Deepak Saharan, DCP east, said.

“The policeman (posing as a customer), on reaching the room, gave a missed call to the police team. When we raided the place, we found some people in compromising positions,” an investigating officer said.

Most of the women arrested by the police are between 22 and 25 years of age and were allegedly involved in the flesh trade. All of them live in rented accommodations in Gurgaon and one of them also worked as a manager, who finalised deals, the police said.

Cases have been registered under sections 3,4,5,7,8,9 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act of 1956.

The police said they have also registered cases against the owners of these spas who will also be arrested soon.
