A video grab of three men pointing firearms at the petrol pump staff in Haileymandi, Pataudi, on Thursday.

Three armed assailants came on a motorcycle and robbed petrol pump attendants ₹50,000 in Haileymandi, Pataudi, 30 kilometres from Gurgaon, around 2pm on Thursday, police said.

The three men were riding a motorcycle without number plates and asked the attendants to get the tank filled. When the trio was asked to pay for the fuel, they brandished pistols and threatened the staff, police said.

The JK petrol pump at which the incident happened past midday is located on the busy Bilaspur-Kulana road. Within minutes, the accused snatched ₹50,000 and fled the pump. The fuel station staff immediately alerted the police.

Pump manager Vicky said in his police complaint that the trio snatched the money from a pump employee, Satbir, and no one reacted as the accused were carrying firearms. They allegedly threatened to kill the staff if they moved.

On receiving information about the robbery, a team led by Pawan Kumar, in-charge, Hailey mandi police post, reached the spot. The eyewitnesses and the petrol pump staff gave them details about the accused, two of whom wore helmets and the other covered his face with a cloth. Police also examined the CCTV camera footage obtained from the petrol pump cameras.

Police recorded the statements of the staff and registered a case at the Haileymandi police post.

Police said three salesmen — Satbir, Rajesh and Anil —were working at the petrol pump at the time of the incident. The three accused came on a bike and asked them to fill petrol for ₹500 but when Satbir asked for money, they started beating them, and took out firearms. They made off with the entire sales of day — around ₹50,000.

Unidentified persons struck at two flats in Sector 45, Gurgaon, around 11: 30am on Thursday.

The accused came in a car and parked the vehicle in front of the building, police said. They knocked on a door which was opened by an elderly woman. As she had an eye surgery, she was not able to recognise the robbers, police said. They removed earrings that she was wearing, and also made off with a gold chain, and a few hundred rupees,
police said.

“I am lucky that my mother was not harmed. They took her earrings but did not hit her...” Robin Dulvey, the flat owner said. Dulvey was at his workplace and police informed him about the incident.

The robbers also broke into another flat in which two working women lived and stole a laptop and earrings. The women were at work during the incident.

There was no security guard in place in the area and the sector constitutes standalone buildings.

Inspector Sudhir Kumar, SHO, Sector 40, said complaints have been registered and the investigation is on.
