Gurgaon: TV channel staffer shot dead in broad day light on Jharsa road
A 45-year-old man, who had recently joined a television channel, was allegedly shot dead in broad day light at Jharsa road on Friday afternoon. The incident happened opposite the revenue office near Civil Lines around 1.30pm.

Around three to four men, reportedly in a Santro car, fired four to five bullets, which hit Surinder Singh Rana in the head and chest, said police. The incident happened opposite the revenue office near Civil Lines around 1.30pm.
A case of murder was registered against four persons, including a woman, on the complaint of Rana’s wife at Civil Lines police station, the officials said. “A case under section 302 and 34 IPC and Arms act has been registered against four persons,” said a police official.
The accused have been identified as Bala Devi, resident of Sukhrali, and her sons Naveen, Sanjay, and Satpal.
Eyewitnesses said that Rana, 45, had purchased liquor from a vend opposite the revenue office, when the assailants came and parked their car in front of his silver Safari car.
“The victim came out of the car and spoke with the accused but suddenly gunshots could be heard. When we came out of the shop, we saw him lying in a pool of blood,” said an eyewitness.
Eyewitnesses also said there was a heated discussion between the victim and the accused after which the firing took place. However, it is not clear whether the the pistol belonged to Rana or the accused.
The accused were reportedly waiting for him at a snack shop opposite the vend. They later escaped towards Delhi-Gurgaon expressway.
The victim, a resident of Shanti Nagar, was taken to Civil Hospital, Gurgaon, by a traffic police team but was declared brought dead. Rana’s car had the sticker of a news channel based in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police found plastic glasses in which he had drank liquor while apparently waiting for the accused. A high definition digital camera fitted with a microphone usually used by television channels was also found on the dashboard.
The police also recovered a camera and photos that were developed recently from a photo studio on Khandsa road.
Several documents, including the firearm licence and cheque books, were also recovered.
As soon as the information of shooting reached police, crime branch officials led by DCP, crime, Sumit Kuhar, and cops from Civil Lines police station reached the spot.
“A forensic team has collected evidence and the fingerprints. CCTV footage is being procured from the shops nearby and the culprits will be nabbed soon,” said Kuhar.
“We are probing the murder from all angles and nothing can be ruled out,” added Kuhar.
