Gurgaon: Two Huda officials booked for shielding plot allottee

 Two Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) officials have been booked by police for allegedly trying to protect a plot owner, who is accused of owning two Huda plots in violation of the rules. A case has been registered against them at sector 53 police station and the plot holder under sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forging documents), 471 (using forged document), 120B (conspiracy), 203 (giving false information), 218 (public servant framing incorrect record) of the Indian Penal Code.

The FIR was registered against the accused identified as Tarun Pawaria ( then Huda estate officer 2), Kailash (deputy superintendent) Huda and RK Sharma ( plot owner) after a direction to that effect was issued by judicial magistrate (1st class) Shatakshi on Wednesday.

The directions came on the complaint filed against these officials and plot owner by Gurgaon-based RTI activist SK Sharma.

According to Sharma’s complaint, the accused, major (retd) SK Sharma, managed to get a plot allotted in Sector 52, Gurgaon under the ex-servicemen category despite having a plot in his name in Sector 9, Faridabad.

“Despite the fact that the affidavit submitted by the plot holder to get the second plot was false, it was not rejected by the Huda officials,” said Sharma, who has been instrumental in exposing the Huda multiple plot scam in which former defence officials were found to have got themselves allotted multiple plots from the authority in violation of the rules.

On learning that the plot holder had managed to get multiple plots, Sharma filed a complaint with Huda estate officer-2 Tarun Pawaria in May 2015 and also submitted the same to Gurgaon police commissioner.

“After going through the complaint, the Huda estate officer 2 and his colleague gave a clean chit to the plot owner despite him being in clear violation of rules. Thereafter, I approached the police commissioner who asked me to file a supplementary complaint, which was to be investigated by a senior police officer,” Sharma said.

Later, the RTI activist approached the Gurgaon local court and submitted a plea after which the court issued directions to the police to file an FIR.

HUDA administrator Yashpal Yadav, however, said that filing of an FIR did not mean that the officials were guilty of any misconduct. “The filing of FIR means that the police will investigate the charges and find out whether a case is made out against the officials. The court can recommend an FIR against government officials and we will wait for the law to take its course,” Yadav said.
