A 25-year-old woman from Nepal was allegedly molested by a house owner of Nirvana Country, an upscale residential society in the city, on Tuesday.
According to her complaint, the accused, Rajkumar of Tigra village, asked her over to his place on the pretext of giving him a job and touched her inappropriately.
The accused, said sources, is a friend of the victim’s husband. Even the victim was known to him. A complaint was lodged at the nearby women’s police station under Section 354 D (act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The victim’s husband had earlier requested the accused to find her a job.
“We have received a complaint and the investigation is on,” Manjusha, a sub-inspector at the women’s police station, said.
With the city already having courted infamy over the rise in cases of crime against women, the police has pledged to act swiftly in the case and bring the accused to book.
