To impart free education to the farming community, the government has decided to open Kisan Adarsh Vidyalaya in each district of the state.
This was stated by Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Sharma while paying tributes to martyrs on the 66th Independence Day on Wednesday.
Sharma said the government had implemented the Right to Education Act (RTE) in the state under which provision for imparting free and compulsory education to every child up to Class 8 had been made.
“To meet the target, the Haryana government has proposed to spend Rs. 90,000 crore during 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17). This amount is 157% more than the Rs. 35,000 crore spent during 11th Five Year Plan,” said Sharma.
The speaker also unfurled the Tricolour and took salute of the march past led by ACP Gurgaon Sandeep Kumar at the Chaudhary Surender Singh Cricket pavilion.
Sharma also laid a wreath at the War Memorial in John Hall, Civil Lines and honoured freedom fighters present on the occasion.
“The government has increased the pension of freedom fighters from Rs. 11,000 per month to Rs. 15,000,” he added. Sharma also congratulated sportspersons from Haryana who won medals at the Olympics.
