The Gurgaon police plan to rope in youngsters to tackle cyber crimes through its summer internship programme.
Engineering students from computer science background, management graduates and post-graduates will assist the police in tackling net banking frauds, cyber forensics, Facebook related issues, lottery frauds and other cyber crimes.
And the management students will ensure that different departments of the police force work efficiently.
“We want to invite professionals and engineers with an MTech or BTech degrees. During their internship, they will get an exposure of various constraints that one faces while dealing with cyber security cases and how to efficiently utilise resources keeping in mind the technical aspects. The police force will also benefit from the initiative as the process will improve our knowledge regarding technical issues and make the system more transparent,” said city police commissioner Alok Mittal.
The internship is open exclusively for women also. They will be trained under women cops and will work and understand the functioning of the women’s cell. Mittal added, “Students and faculty from MBA institutes are also invited for the internship programme. They will be allotted police stations where they can develop and aid management of the police in different sectors.”
The police have planned to develop software and hardware tools for easier and faster management of their resources. The information technology industry, professionals/students and the police will be integrated. Softwares like a police helpline App for android phones will also be developed. This sort of technological convergence will increase transparency between the police dealings and the common man.
