On Sunday, sitting Gurgaon Member of Parliament (MP) Rao Inderjit Singh campaigned for votes in his stronghold of Rewari, where he asked people to vote in favour of the nation as this election would impact the future of the country.
Singh visited places like Khori, Saranwas, Bhoodpur, Balawas, Gangaycha Ahir, Gokalgarh, Nazwada and Kakodia, among others, where he met the residents and asked them to vote for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP). A day before, the Gurgaon MP had visited various villages in Mewat, which happens to be a Muslim-majority area.
Meanwhile, his daughter, Arti Rao, canvassed for votes in Gurugram, where she met residents in upscale condominiums as well as unauthorised colonies.
Gurgaon goes to polls on May 12 along with nine other seats in the state. It has 21.34 lakh voters in nine assembly constituencies of southern Haryana.
Addressing the people at various places, the BJP MP told the people that it was the BJP government in the state and at the Centre that had brought about development and created jobs on Gurgaon and south Haryana.
“The nation has developed and so have Gurgaon and south Haryana, including Mewat. The whole country wants Prime Minister Narendra Modi to form the next government, because of his record of development, his action against terror and his efforts to make India proud in the international community of nations,” said Singh.
Singh cited the recently announced AIIMS centre in Manethi, completion of the KMP(Kundli-Manesar-Palwal) Expressway, electrification of Rewari-Delhi railway line, setting up of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority(GMDA), construction of a number of major roads connecting Rewari with Gurugram and other areas as the achievements of the government.
Singh also used the opportunity to visit Gokalgarh and Saranwas, both of which have been traditionally supporting the Congress and where his opponent Capt (Retd) Ajay Singh Yadav has a strong support base.
Member of the legislative assembly (MLA) from Rewari, Randhir Kapdiwas, also shared the stage with Singh in village Bhoodpur and asked the people to vote for Singh in large numbers. Singh’s daughter Arti Rao, said, “We have helped to set up the GMDA, launched bus services, improved the infrastructure on highway and awarded work on Dwarka Expressway. In the next five years, we will strive to reduce pollution and protect the Aravallis.”
