The police arrested a 28-year-old man posing as a sub-inspector of Indo Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) on Wednesday afternoon after he tried to enter the compound of Haryana police Recruitment Training Centre (RTC) in Bhondsi.
When the guards did not let him through, the man allegedly assaulted the officers and abused them. He also threatened to take action against the men on duty at the gate, the police said.
He was produced before a city court and was sent to 14 days’ judicial custody on Thursday.
According to the police, on Wednesday around 1:30pm, Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Behalpa village, tried to enter the RTC in Bhondsi. When the guards stopped him and asked for his identity card, he produced a colour photocopy of an ITBP ID card.
Suspecting that it was a fake ID, the guards asked his name and he introduced himself as sub-inspector Navin Kumar. They held him at the gate and informed seniors officers.
During questioning, the man revealed that the ITBP ID belonged to his brother and he was riding his brother’s motorbike. He had purportedly entered the RTC compound to take a shortcut to his village, the police said.
The officials at RTC Bhondsi handed him over to the Gurgaon police for further investigation.
