A man, suspected to be in his 50s, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a city hospital, a day after he was allegedly beaten up by two men in Hailey Mandi, Pataudi, said police Monday evening.
According to the police, the victim, identified only by his first name as Balram, a resident of Jatoli, had gone to meet two acquaintances, identified in the first information report as Janak and Amit, at a local eatery in Hailey Mandi on Sunday evening when he had an argument with them, Suresh Kumar, station house officer (SHO), Pataudi police station, said.
“Following the argument, he was beaten up by the two men. The suspects punched and kicked him, injuring his chest. The victim had then called a member of his family, who took him to a hospital in Pataudi,” said SHO Kumar.
Police said the victim reported the incident to the police on Monday morning, following which a case of assault was registered.
Kumar said that the victim suffered a debilitating illnesses and his condition worsened due to the injuries. “He was referred to the civil hospital later on Monday and he died during treatment. The two men are yet to be arrested,” Kumar said.
Police said section 302 (murder) would be added to the FIR.
