Residents continued to reel under the third consecutive day of frequent power cuts on Tuesday as the discom struggled with repair work after the storm.
Three transformers were damaged twice due to short circuit amid heavy rains in Sectors 21, 22 and 23, disrupting power supply on Monday and Tuesday.
Old Gurgaon areas such as Sadar, Shivaji Nagar, Laxmi Garden, Palam Vihar, New Palam Vihar, Rajendra Park, Ashok Vihar, New Colony and Madanpuri, along with New Gurgaon areas such as Sectors 27, 28, 31, 40, 45, South City and Ardee City, have been facing outages for the past three days.
“There was no power for a total of six hours on Tuesday with at least three to four outages in an entire day. The situation was worst on Sunday and Monday with supply for only three hours. There was no electricity to recharge the inverters,” said OP Dahiya, resident of Sector 17-C that faced complete blackout due to feeder failure.
According to a Sector 21 resident, SN Yadav, Tuesday was comparatively better as intermittent outages spread across only three to four hours.
According to Sanjiv Chopra, superintending engineer, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitaran Nigam (DHBVN), heavy rainfall damaged several feeders, transformers, wires and poles.
“We have been trying our level best to restore power and we almost fixed major glitches by Tuesday, which witnessed fewer cuts,” Chopra said.
Feeders on Mehrauli road, Sector 9-A, Sector 21, Badshahpur and Manesar were on Tuesday. “As many as 24 transformers were damaged and seven electric poles were uprooted. Wires were also damaged at several places,” Chopra added.
