A city court on Friday rejected the bail plea of Sushil Kumar, one of the accused in the violence at Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant on July 18.
Agitated workers unleashed violence against company officials. A senior HR manager was killed and more than 100 were injured in the incident.
Kumar, 25, is one of the 300 workers who got joining letter after the plant resumed partial production on August 21. He has been lodged in Bhondsi jail.
In the court, he argued that the management's joining letter was a clean chit for him. The court of additional district and session judge HS Dahiya denied him bail after the prosecution said that the investigation was still on and the chargesheet has not yet been filed against him.
The court had earlier allowed Kumar to appear for a test at Delhi's Karol Bagh for a post at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. A police team accompanied him to the examination centre.
The court, however, allowed another accused in the case Baljinder Singh, who has been in judicial custody, to appear in an engineering entrance test in Himachal Pradesh. He will be shifted to a Kangra jail during the period of the examination from September 5-15.
