Seven arrested in two carjacking incidents in Gurgaon

Drivers were robbed of an Etios Liva and an Ola cab in the two separate incidents

The four men involved in one of the incidents, snatching an Etios Liva, had asked the victim for a lift.

Seven accused involved in two separate incidents of car jacking were arrested, police said on Sunday.

In the first incident, an Etios Liva was stolen on Thursday near Jharsa flyover when the victim, Naseer Malida, was travelling towards Delhi.

Four men approached him and asked for a lift till Shankar Chowk. The victim agreed. One of them told him that he had dropped his phone and asked him to stop the car. As Malida parked the car along the roadside, they pushed him to the back seat and took him to Rajasthan and dumped him there, the police spokesperson said.

During questioning, the accused said they wanted to expand their illegal liquor business for which they needed a vehicle.

They decided to take a car from Gurgaon, the spokesperson said. The four accused were identified by the police as Sagar (21) a native of Alwar, Rajasthan, Mohammad Anas (19) a native of UP, Shahnawaz (19), of UP and Shah Rukh (19) from Delhi.

The accused were arrested from Badshahpur area around 2.30pm on Saturday, the police said. A case was registered at the Civil Lines police station under sections 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent to secretly and wrongfully confine person) and 379 B (theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In another incident, three persons were arrested by the Palam Vihar crime unit from Rajender Park for carjacking of an Ola cab.

The accused were identified as Raj Singh (25) and Om Veer (19) of Uttar Pradesh and Dauji (24), also a resident of Uttar Pradesh. A case was lodged at Palam Vihar police station under sections 379 (punishment or theft) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of IPC.

In both the cases, the police seized the vehicles and the accused were sent to jail after being produced in court.
