A 19-year-old graduate, who returned from Canada recently, jumped to his death from the 16th floor of his apartment in the upscale gated community, Trinity Tower, in DLF City Phase 5 around 3am on Friday.
The reason of the suicide is yet unknown and no suicide note could be found at the spot or the apartment. The deceased, Dhruv Singh, had returned from Canada in April last after completing his graduation.
He lived in the apartment with his mother and his elder brother is pursuing his MBBS in Singapore. Singh was a pass-out of Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj and a meritorious student throughout, said police.
Kavita Singh, the mother of the deceased, told police, “After dinner we went to sleep in our respective rooms. Around 2.30am, I woke up and saw the lights in the Dhruv’s room on. He was watching TV and was working on his laptop; I went to his room and asked him to go to sleep.”
The body fell with a thud, alerting the building’s security guards who then notified the police control room. Bloodstains could be seen on the ground, near the gate of the building, where the body landed.
“Around 5.30am, the security guard of the tower rushed to Kavita Singh and informed her about the mishap. Singh checked the room but Dhruv was not in bed. She rushed to the ground floor and burst into tears,” said Maheshwar Dayal, joint commissioner of police.
“We have asked the DLF security manager to provide us the CCTV camera footage of the tower and would look for any suicide note inside his books after the cremation,” added Dayal.
The cremation would be conducted on Saturday as the deceased’s brother would be reaching Gurgaon late on Friday.
