Two workers of a steel firm in Laxman Vihar, Sector 3A, were allegedly beaten up with iron rods by a dozen workers from an adjacent garment shop for allegedly dumping a dead dog in front of it.
Police said the dispute started when the accused, including a woman, confronted Manoj Singh (35), who works as a foreman at a steel firm on Railway Road, over the issue. Complainants Manoj and his co-worker Ranbir Singh, both from Farrukh Nagar, denied disposing the body of a dog at the spot.
An argument ensued and it soon escalated into a brawl in which Manoj and Ranbir sustained injuries on their face, head, back and knees, said the investigating officer, requesting anonymity. According to the police, the incident took place on July 27 at 11am.
“In the complaint, Manoj and Ranbir alleged that they were beaten up with iron rods. The accused and the victims had frequent run-ins over petty issues, with the former complaining of nuisance when the trucks load iron bars from the steel shop at night,” the officer said.
The police said the victims remained admitted at the Civil Hospital for two days after the incident and a case was registered against the accused on Monday after doctors declared them fit for giving statement.
A case was registered under sections 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 452 (house-trespass), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sector 9A police station.
Police said they have identified 11 suspects, who are yet to be arrested.
Later on Monday, a counter FIR was registered against unknown persons under sections 323, 452 and 506 of the IPC at the same police station. The woman accused alleged that she was also injured in the brawl.
