Daniel Craig has been playing the iconic Agent 007 since 2006’s Casino Royale.

After months of playing coy, Daniel Craig is reportedly on board to reprise his role as James Bond for the fifth time, and he’s bringing Adele back to sing the theme song.

The Daily Mirror reports that Craig, who has been playing the iconic Agent 007 since 2006’s Casino Royale, has agreed to return, after previously saying that he would rather ‘slash’ his ‘wrists’ than do another Bond film.

Producer Barbara Broccoli has secured Craig, and is ‘determined’ to bring back Adele, who performed the theme song for 2012’s Skyfall, for which she won at the Academy Awards, Brit Awards, Grammy Awards and Golden Globes..

They will look to replicate that film’s success, after the rushed sequel, 2015’s Spectre, could only draw mediocre reviews, and saw a decline in box office.

The Dark Tower star Idris Elba, Peaky Blinders’ Tom Hardy, Happy Valley villain James Norton and Poldark’s Aidan Turner were all rumoured to be contenders to replace Craig.

The report goes on to say that Broccoli hopes for production to begin by 2018.

A source close to the production told the Mirror, “Craig and Adele together are the winning team, the ultimate choice, the money spinners. It’s taken time but Daniel has come round and the strong consensus in the Bond offices is that Mr Craig is 007 again. As for Adele, she’s more of an unknown quantity but loved being part of Bond, so the signs are positive.”

Craig’s wife, actor Rachel Weisz, is also “on board with the decision” and is fine with him spending a year away filming.

He was previously said to have been offered more than $150 million (Rs 1000 crore) to return for two more films.
