Princess Diana's life and death has probably been one of the most discussed in the media over the years. Gracing the cover of Vanity Fair's September issue, Princess Di continues to live on as the people's princess.
The magazine pays a tribute to the late princess' upcoming biopic simply titled Diana starring Naomi Watts. Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, the first full trailer for the film has been released. Diana's trailer shows Watts as the much loved royal, mother of Prince William and Harry and the lover of a certain cardiologist Dr Hasnat Khan.

Rumoured to be Diana's last true love, Khan met her a short two years before her tragic death. The trailer, that released recently, has brought the Aussie actress many compliments for her performance.
"Watts, donning a blonde wig, exudes the grace and elegance the late princess was known for, portraying Diana during a tumultuous time in her life," commends The Daily Beast.
"Playing Princess Diana was the hardest thing I've done. I wanted to try to embody her and get the essence of her," Watts told the tabloid.
Donning outfits that remind us of the many pictures we have seen flashed in memorials for Princess Di, Watts seems to invoke more memories than attempts to slip into her royal shoes. She doesn't distract the viewer with a lot of individuality, or so the trailer suggests.
The film seems to capture the story behind Diana's eventual association with Dodi Fayed (the friend who died with her in the fatal car crash) and delves into the person behind the famous pictures. Naomi Watts appears quite plain as compared to the much aestheticised princess, but that might be intentional.
As royals expert Sarah Ellison quotes in Vanity Fair, "Everybody sells me out," Diana told a friend the summer of her death. "Hasnat is the one person who will never sell me out."
Jemima Khan, ex-wife of Pakistani politician Imran Khan and close associate of the princess tells Ellison,"Diana was madly in love with Hasnat Khan and wanted to marry him, even if that meant living in Pakistan, and that's one of the reasons why we became friends."
The trailer suggests intense love between the two, which after Jemima's statement doesn't seem too far from reality. The real question, however, is whether the film does justice to the mystery behind Princess Di's entire life.
Hasnat Khan, played by Lost actor Naveen Andrews, appears to be the key reason for Diana's paparazzi harrassment in the trailer. Whatever little we see of Andrews looks quite promising.
The film is scheduled to open on Sept 20 in the U.K., just a few weeks after the 16th anniversary of Her Royalty's death.
