FOUR! Lasith Malinga to Sarfraz Ahmed. Bouncer, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed past third man for 4 runs.

Pakistan have done it!! They are through to the semi-final after a brilliant final partnership between Sarfraz and Mohammad Amir. Sri Lanka were superb with the ball in the middle overs and at one point they were looking like taking the victory but they couldn't get the crucial wicket of the Pakistan captain. Possibly if Perera or Prasanna taken their catches things might have been different but hats off to Pakistan for an all round display today. Join us for the first semi-final on Wednesday where England will play the victors from today while on Thursday we will see India take on Bangladesh.

  • Key events
  • 49.2

OUT! Caught & Bowled. Ashraf to Fernando. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot defending, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled back to bowler, fielded by Ashraf.

Fahim Ashraf finishes off the innings with his second wicket on debut. A simple caught and bowled as Pradeep loops the ball back to him with little pace on it.

This looks under par and that is all thanks to the bowling display from Mohammad Amir (2-53), Junaid Khan (3-40) and Hasan Ali (3-43). Dickwella was the only shining light for Sri Lanka as he held the innings together at the top with 73 but once he and Mathews fell the innings crumbled. Join us soon for the second innings to see if Pakistan can get the required runs to reach the semi-finals.

  • 48.1

OUT! Caught. Ali to Gunaratne. Off cutter length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, mis-timed in the air under control to deep mid wicket, by Zaman. It's a long boundary to that side and Gunaratne is not going to find it. No pace to work with and the bat skews in the hand at impact. Easy catch in the deep for Fakhar.

  • 45.6

That is 200 for Sri Lanka off 284 balls.

  • 45.4

Dropped Catch! Khan to Gunaratne. Full toss, middle stump no foot movement reverse sweeping, well timed in the air under control to third man for 1 run, dropped catch by Ashraf.

  • 44.3

OUT! Bowled. Ali to Lakmal. Off cutter length ball, outside off stump on the front foot flick, missed. Another wicket for Hasan Ali. It was the change of pace which fooled Lakmal into playing too early and missing the ball. Only just clipped the off stump bail but enough to dislodge it. A handy innings from him though and he has got Sri Lanka past 200.

  • 34.6

OUT! Caught. Khan to Perera. Length ball, outside off stump no foot movement pushing, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to slips, by Azam. Junaid has three. He is keeping that line outside off stump and Thisara is loose with his hands pushing hard with little foot movement. Big edge which goes straight to slip and Babar comfortably takes the catch.

  • 33.5

APPEAL! Amir to Gunaratne. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, outside edge to wicketkeeper for no runs, by Ahmed, appeal made for Caught Is this another one. Gunaratne slashes outside his off stump and gets a thick edge which flies to Sarfraz's right hand. It hasn't stuck though as the elbow hits the ground and the ball bobbles out of the glove.

  • 33.1

APPEAL! Fernando to Ahmed. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot working, hit pad to short extra cover for no runs, fielded by de, appeal made for L.B.W. This has hit Sarfraz too high for Mathews to contemplate the review.

  • 33.1

OUT! Caught. Amir to Dickwella. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot flick, inside edge to wicketkeeper, by Ahmed. What is going on out there! Pakistan are on a roll, restricting Sri Lanka to 162-6 after they were crusing at 160-3. This has been a devastating spell from Amir but what a catch that was from Sarfraz. A thickish inside edge after Dickwella tried to drag the ball from outside off stump and the ball just carried to the keeper's right hand.

  • 32.3

OUT! Caught. Khan to de Silva. Seaming away length ball, down leg side on the back foot defending, outside edge to wicketkeeper, by Ahmed. Superb delivery from Junaid. Nipping away and the angle taking it even further across the batsman and finding the edge. Nothing Dhananjaya could do being new to the crease.

  • 31.2

OUT! Bowled. Amir to Mathews. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot pulling, bottom edge. Strange shot from Mathews, a half pull/shovel into the legside. It didn't work out for him as the ball skidded off the pitch and hit the underside of the bat, onto the pad and then into the stumps. Huge wicket for Pakistan as Mathews can be very dangerous late on.

  • 30.5

APPEAL! Khan to Dickwella. Length ball, outside off stump backing away cutting, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, by Ahmed, appeal made for Caught Not the biggest appeal from Pakistan. The bowler seemed more interested than Sarfraz and nothing from the umpire.

  • 29.5

OUT! Run Out. Perera to Ahmed. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, back to bowler, fielded by Perera. Brilliant work from Thisara. Just a fingertip needed to deflect the ball back onto the stumps to leave Fahim short by a whisker. You would have to say not great work from Fahim who tried to plonk his bat behind the line instead of sliding it. In

  • 25.4

OUT! Caught. Fernando to Wasim. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot pushing, outside edge to wicketkeeper, by Dickwella. And another one. Sri Lanka are on fire with Pradeep picking up his third. It was very clever bowling after he changed his angle from around the wicket the previous ball and pushed it across Wasim, who pushed out with his hands. What a game this has turned out to be.

  • 25.2

APPEAL! Hafeez to Mathews. Off break length ball, outside off stump on the front foot working, to mid wicket for 1 run, direct hit by Wasim, appeal made for Run Out Quick throw from Imad and Mathews has to put in a dive. This is too close to call at first glance but after seeing the replay the dive has saved the Sri Lankan captain.

  • 24.5

OUT! Caught. Malinga to Malik. Short, outside off stump moves in front pulling, Gloved to wicketkeeper, by Dickwella. Malinga is ecstatic with this wicket. Malik will have been expecting the yorker but Malinga has changed the length and banged it in short at the body. A touch of glove and through to the keeper. 106 more runs needed.

  • 21.5

That is 100 for Sri Lanka off 135 balls.

  • 19.2

OUT! Caught. Lakmal to Ali. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pushing, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to slips, by Mendis. Sri Lanka have their fourth, and it is the set batsman Azhar Ali. Lakmal had just come on and found a little extra bounce off the surface which troubled Azhar. The catch went very quick to Mendis at slip and he was lucky to see it stick in his left hand.

  • 19.2

That is 50 for Niroshan Dickwella off 55 balls.

  • 18.4

That is 100 for Pakistan off 118 balls.

  • 16.5

OUT! Caught. Perera to Hafeez. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot working, leading edge in the air uncontrolled to mid on, by Pradeep. Sri Lanka continue to chip away. Hafeez this time is looking to turn the ball onto the legside but gets a looping leading edge. Simple catch for Pradeep. Pakistan don't have a lot of runs to get but that is making them go into their shells which when wickets fall, creates pressure.

  • 15.4

OUT! Caught. Fernando to Azam. Length ball, outside off stump on the back foot working, mis-timed in the air under control to mid wicket, by de. He was wanting to go a lot squarer with this. A simple catch for the fielder who was stationed at short midwicket. Pradeep continues his impressive Champions Trophy.

  • 15.1

OUT! Bowled. Ashraf to Chandimal. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, inside edge. First wicket for Fahim Ashraf. It wasn't his greatest ball but Chandimal, early in his innings, throws his hands at it and chopped back onto the stumps.

  • 14.5

OUT! Bowled. Ali to Mendis. Seaming in length ball, outside off stump no foot movement defending, missed. It needed to be a good delivery to dismiss Mendis and that is exactly what Hasan Ali produced. Nipping back off the seam and beaten by a bit of extra pace as the ball just clips the top of middle stump.

  • 11.2

OUT! Caught. Fernando to Zaman. Short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, top edge in the air uncontrolled to fine leg, by Gunaratne. He has to go now after reaching his milestone. A good bouncer from Pradeep which was high and hard to control. Top edge, and straight down the throat of Gunaratne on the edge.

  • 10.6

That is 50 for Fakhar Zaman off 38 balls.

  • 9.6

OUT! Caught. Khan to Gunathilaka. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, mis-timed in the air under control to extra cover, by Malik. Trying to drive on the up is probably not the best idea on this wicket. A little extra bounce and the ball hits the splice of the bat gifting Malik the simplest of catches. Pakistan get the breakthrough after a frantic start.
