6, including 5 minors, held for raping eight-year-old girl in Pune
The incident came to the light on Thursday when the victim was taken to a doctor after she complained of stomachache
A teenage boy was arrested and five juveniles were detained for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl over the past few months in Pune’s Kondhwa locality, police said on Friday.
The incident came to the light on Thursday when the victim was taken to a doctor after she complained of stomachache.
The doctor found some marks on the girl’s body during a medical examination and suspected it to be a case of sexual abuse, the official said.
When the doctor asked the girl about the marks, she revealed that she had been sexually assaulted on several occasions by the six.
Following the revelation, father of the victim reported that matter to the police.
Kondhwa Police Station Incharge Milind Gaikwad said that the accused and the victim stayed in the same locality and attended the same school.
“The 18-year old first came into contact with the victim five months ago when he went to her house and took her out on the pretext of buying sweets. He was later joined by other minors who raped her turn by turn over the period,” he said.
The minor accused are in the age group of 6-12.
According to Police Inspector Gaikwad, the minors influenced the eighteen-year-old suspect to commit the sexual act which, according to him, is shocking. The eighteen-year-old teen has been sentenced to police custody till December 28.
The six have been booked under IPC Section 376 (rape) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police official said.
