RohtakIf the viral images of rats nibbling on bodies at mortuaries in Haryana hospitals were not disturbing enough, now a video of dogs feeding on a body at the Jind civil hospital in Haryana has surfaced on social media.The disturbing clip shows stray dogs feeding on an unidentified body lying on the mortuary ground. The video was reportedly shot by some passersby. They also alerted hospital officials about the incident.After the video invited criticism, Jind chief medical officer Dr Sanjay Dahiya instituted an inquiry into the incident under medical superintendent, whose probe report put the onus on a police official and gave a clean chit to the hospital.Don’t miss | Rats found nibbling at dead bodies in Kurukshetra, Kaithal morguesBlame game begins Dr Dahiya said the body, found on railway tracks, was brought to the hospital on April 16 by the Railway Police for post-mortem. “We conducted the post-mortem and handed the body back to the police the same day. The police kept the body for identification for 72 hours in a separate room of the mortuary premises. It was their responsibility,” Dr Dahiya said.The police sub-inspector, Dharambir Singh, to whom the body was handed over, said he had no idea about the incident. “I covered the body with ice and kept it on table. I had even locked the room. I went to the hospital to get some paperwork done, but when I came back I found the door open,” he said.
