Bhupendra Patel will continue as the chief minister of Gujarat for the second term after he was picked by the Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs unanimously in a legislative meeting, a BJP official said. On Thursday, Patel tendered his resignation along with his entire cabinet to form the new government. Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday morning condemned the RPG (rocket-propelled grenade) attack on a police station in Punjab's Tarn Taran, and said those responsible would be caught. Unknown individuals attacked the police station in Tarn Taran's Sarhali with a RPG at 11.22 pm on Friday, police sources confirmed this morning. Sources told news agency PTI the grenade did not actually explode.
The Supreme Court is set to hear Bilkis Bano's petition - challenging the early release of rape convicts - on December 13. A bench of justices Ajay Rastogi and Bela Trivedi will hear the matter. She was detained amid huge protests. She has been waging the battle against KCR for several days now.
Some unknown miscreants attacked Sarhali police station in Punjab's Tarn Taran with a rocket-propelled grenade during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, police sources said. Sarhali came under attack at around 1am on Saturday, said police. The rocket was recovered from the police station. This is the second such incident in Punjab in the last seven months where the police station was attacked with a rocket.
