The Indian Meteorological Department on Friday predicted rainfall and thunderstorms in Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana from May 2 that may bring the much-needed respite from the scorching heat that India is reeling under. The husband of an 18-year-old girl who died while giving birth to a child was arrested along with his father and other family members in Assam's Bongaigaon district under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, police said on Thursday. The father-son duo has been identified as Sahinur Ali (23) and Aynal Haque (48). Superintendent of police of Bongaigaon district, Swapnaneel Deka said the girl had got married when she was a minor.
A suspected cadre of the banned United Liberation Front of Asom ? Independent (ULFA-I) was killed in Assam's Tinsukia district during a gun battle between police and militants in the wee hours of Thursday, officials said. The incident happened at Margherita town at around 1.30am. According to police officials familiar with the matter, a group of ULFA cadres were taking shelter in Lekhapani area of Margherita town for the last 10 days.
?A 27-year-old doctor was found murdered at his south Goa house in Betalbatim, police said. Police said his body was found with its hands tied inside a bed box. The doctor, identified as Nishant Bharat, was a native of Bihar and worked at a private hospital in the state. Police said the prime suspect was a man hired by the doctor for household chores who has gone missing. The house was locked from outside.

A senior police officer inspecting the site said blood drops were found from the scene that was sent for forensic examination.
